Animation Job - digital illustration

Back in December I had the opportunity to work on something new. I was hired to design and illustrate characters and background by Untold Entertainment. They were doing a hunting game for Newfoundland and Labrador.  Now, you have to understand I don't agree with sport hunting... in fact, I do so much work for WWF Canada, and other environmental organizations that I almost didn't take this job. BUT the concept of the game was actually a little funny. The animals fight back (and when I tried it, always win, but then again, I am not the greatest gamer there is....).  It was also my first chance at doing any kind of animation work. So an experience I didn't want to pass up.  

The technical aspects of the job were interesting, making puppets out of my illustrations.  Working with Untold Entertainment was also a pleasure.  The characters were also fun, because as you can see, they are not my usual style.  It was nice to break out of what I always do and try something a little different. I am pretty proud of how these worked out, looking forward to seeing the game online!

Downy Woodpecker - pencil sketch

I had so much fun with the chickadee, that I decided to do another one. This is a downy woodpecker, with a lumberjack vest.

Canadian Wildlife Series - paper

I am very excited to introduce this new collection of paper animals. I am working with Canadian Wildlife to help the world see the beautiful diversity of animals we have here in Canada! I will be adding a new animal each month.  These three are available for purchase in my Etsy store.

These make great presents to yourself, or others ;) They are also great for children's rooms, especially baby rooms since babies are attracted to the contrasting colours as well as the textures in these pieces.

I am also available to do custom orders if you want families of these animals, or other variations!

Blue Jay on Baseball - paper art

Okay, so baseball season is in full swing, and as some of you know I love to watch baseball (and play!).  Now, I married a Boston Red Sox fan, so our family does a lot of cheering for them, but since I am

1. Canadian 

2. living in Toronto

we show our support to the Jays whenever they play! (and yes that means cheering for them instead of the Sox when they play against each other!)

Here is my little guy for this season, hopefully the Jays will go far this year!

Maman Bear - paper

Maman Bear and her cubs adventuring! I made these especially for Mothers day (a little later then I would have liked but there you go!) You can custom order them by emailing me, and choose how many cubs you'd like to have in your illustration.  Selling them as original paper art, not prints, so each one will be slightly different. I created this little fox character for my son's room (a Christmas present) and I really loved him, so feel the need to do more with the little guy. So get ready, you will probably be seeing more of him soon! Also experimenting a bit with mediums here, going for a digital / collage mix.  I kind of like it! have to play more with that too :)
